FAQ

  • What is the cost of a puppy?

Puppies are $3000 + TN state tax

A $500 deposit is required to reserve a puppy.

  • What is the process of matching puppies with their families?

We will be observing the puppies’ temperaments and characteristics in our home from the time they are born. We will make recommendations based on the activity level, lifestyle, and preferences of the applications we receive, with the goal of finding the best possible fit.

If more than one puppy is considered a good match for a family we would love to include you in the selection process!

  • How do we pick up our puppy?

You are welcome to come to our home to pick up your puppy!

If you live further away we can discuss meeting within reason or delivering for a fee.

While we do not ship puppies unattended we will gladly meet you at BNA (Nashville International Airport) if you would like to fly your puppy home in the cabin with you.

We can help arrange for other safe transportation options if none of those are suitable to your situation.

  • What kind of puppy socialization do you do?

I love this question! Nerding out about early training and setting puppies up for success in their new homes is my favorite!

We incorporate ENS (early neurological stimulation) in our puppy raising. Puppies will be positively exposed to adults and children, vacuums, grooming, being crated, riding in the car, and all sorts of new smells, surfaces, and situations to help them gain confidence in living in the world of people!

I am happy to chat or recommend resources to set you and your dog up for hopefully over a decade of well-adjusted life together!

We strongly encourage all puppy buyers to take at least one training class together. Goldens love to work with their people and for food! You might find you are hooked and we will see each other in the competition ring at some point!

If you are in the Middle Tennessee area, we recommend and have attended classes at NDTC (Nashville Dog Training Club) and MOTC (Murfreesboro Obedience Training Club)

  • What veterinary care do the puppies receive?

Puppies will be regularly dewormed, have their first set of vaccinations, and a full vet exam prior to going to their new homes, ensuring they are healthy and set up for success!

Puppies will also go home with 30 days of free pet insurance.

We ask that you plan to bring your new puppy to your vet within 72 hours of going home.

  • Are puppies AKC registered?

All puppies sold as pets are eligible to be registered under AKC limited registration.

If you are seeking a conformation performance prospect please reach out and we can discuss goals and opportunities!

  • What health testing do the parents undergo?

We are proud to meet and exceed the recommendations of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) - the parent club for Golden Retrievers.

Our dogs have passed screenings of hips, elbows, hearts (by a board certified cardiologist), and eyes, as well as DNA testing for over 200 heritable diseases and conditions. These tests are publicly available on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) website.

  • What goes home with the puppy?

All puppies will go home with AKC limited registration paperwork, a free 30 days of pet insurance, a small bag of the food they are used to to prevent upset stomachs from changing food too quickly over the exciting transition to their new home, and all veterinary paperwork and records. Depending on your transportation situation we can also provide a toy or blanket that smells like the puppies littermates and dam for comfort during the transition.

  • What if we find we are unable to keep our puppy?

Life is unpredictable and can be full of challenges. If at any time you are unable to keep your puppy, we ask that they be returned to us as outlined in our contract.

This ensures no puppy we breed ever ends up in a shelter or bad situation. We are committed to the lives we help bring into this world and will make sure they are carefully evaluated to find the best fit for them going forward.

  • Do you have a health guarantee?

We do! It is a limited guarantee outlined in our puppy buyer contract. We test and evaluate to the best of our ability, but acknowledge there are some things we simply cannot know or be prepared for.

  • Where can I find out more about the Golden Retriever?

The Golden Retriever Club of America has a wealth of resources on the breed!
